Estee Lauder Taps JP Morgan to Finance Puig Takeover Bid
Estee Lauder has asked JP Morgan to finance a 5 billion euro bid for Spanish firm Puig. The deal would create the world's largest premium beauty company.
The cosmetics giant EQ INC has reportedly commissioned JPMORGAN CHASE & CO to organize a financing package of approximately 5 billion euros ($5.89 billion). This funding is intended to facilitate a takeover bid for the Spanish company PUIG BRANDS SA-B. According to reporting by the Spanish newspaper Expansion, this move follows an earlier announcement where both firms indicated they were exploring a deal to create the world's largest premium beauty player. The proposed merger would bring a wide range of luxury brands under one roof, including Tom Ford, Carolina Herrera, Rabanne, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Clinique. This transaction would represent a major industrial link between the United States and Spain. While the companies have acknowledged their ongoing discussions, EQ INC did not immediately respond to requests for comment following the report on the financing structure.
