Lilly signs 1.9 billion dollar gene editing deal
Eli Lilly has secured exclusive rights to use Ascidian Therapeutics' RNA exon-editing technology to develop therapies for rare inherited kidney diseases. The deal includes an upfront payment and milestones totaling up to 1.9 billion dollars plus royalties on future sales.
ELI LILLY & CO signed a $1.9 billion licensing deal with Ascidian Therapeutics on Wednesday morning to develop gene-editing therapies for rare kidney diseases. The agreement grants ELI LILLY & CO exclusive rights to Ascidian's RNA exon-editing technology for specific, undisclosed renal targets. This deal expands the genetic medicine portfolio of ELI LILLY & CO following the $1.13 billion acquisition of Verve Therapeutics and new partnerships with AI-first biotech Profluent and Seamless Therapeutics.
