AEVEX Valuation Hits 2.6 Billion After NYSE Debut Jump
AEVEX shares rose 15 percent in their NYSE debut on Friday. The drone maker reached a 2.6 billion dollar valuation as demand for defense technology grows.
Shares of drone manufacturer AEVEX surged 15% during their debut on the New York Stock Exchange on Friday, reflecting robust investor demand for defense-oriented technology. This market entry comes as global governments increase military expenditures in response to heightened geopolitical instability. The shift toward unmanned aerial systems has become a defining feature of modern conflict, notably observed in the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia.
The private equity-backed firm saw its stock open at $23.01, significantly higher than the initial offering price of $20. This performance established a market valuation of approximately $2.57 billion for the company. Based in Solana Beach, California, AEVEX successfully raised $320 million by selling 16 million shares in its initial public offering on Thursday.
The company specializes in providing airborne intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) solutions primarily for the United States government and its allied international forces. Its operations are divided into two primary divisions:
- Tactical Systems: This core unit develops autonomous defense technologies and generates approximately 75% of the total corporate revenue.
- Global Solutions: This segment focuses on aircraft modification and engineering support for both manned and unmanned platforms.
Financial filings indicate a high level of revenue concentration, with the United States government accounting for 78% of the company's total revenue in 2025. Consequently, management has noted that any delays or reductions in government defense budgets could have a material impact on future financial results.
AEVEX joins a growing list of publicly traded unmanned aerial system providers, competing alongside established players such as KRATOS DEFENSE & SECURITY and AEROVIRONMENT INC, as well as private entities like Anduril Industries and Shield AI. The company remains under the majority control of private equity firm Madison Dearborn Partners, which acquired its stake in March 2020 and currently maintains 79.1% of the voting power.
