The Oslo-listed energy firm DNO ASA has suspended its oil production operations within the Kurdistan region of Iraq as a safety precaution. This decision follows recent military strikes launched by Israel and the United States against targets in neighboring Iran. > "Today, as a precautionary measure, we temporarily stopped operations and moved our people to safe locations," DNO Executive Chairman Bijan Mossavar-Rahmani stated. The company indicated that it had been preparing for a potential cessation of activities for several weeks in anticipation of rising regional tensions. Prior to the shutdown, the operator and its partner, Genel Energy plc, reported a combined production of over 77,000 barrels of oil per day during the fourth quarter of 2025. These operations are primarily centered at the Tawke and Peshkabir fields, which are located in close proximity to the border with Turkey. The suspension comes at a sensitive time for global energy markets, where the price of Brent Crude Oil often reacts to geopolitical instability in the Middle East. While DNO has halted its specific output, broader regional data shows that oil exports from the Kurdistan territory reached approximately 200,000 barrels per day throughout February.
