States sue Trump admin over student loan restrictions
Attorneys general from 23 states filed a lawsuit challenging a Department of Education rule that limits federal loan access for healthcare students. The states argue the rule unlawfully excludes nursing and physical therapy programs from higher borrowing caps intended for professional degrees.
Attorneys general from 23 states and the District of Columbia, joined by the governors of Kentucky and Pennsylvania, sued the U.S. Department of Education on Tuesday to block student loan caps that exclude healthcare professions from a higher borrowing limit. The lawsuit challenges a Department of Education rule implementing the One Big Beautiful Bill Act passed in July.
