US Airlines Report Strong Demand Despite High Fuel Prices
US airlines reported strong spring demand on Tuesday to offset rising fuel costs. Delta raised its revenue outlook as sales jumped 25% from a year earlier.
Major airlines in the United States are reporting a significant surge in travel demand heading into the spring season. This robust consumer interest is supporting higher ticket prices and revenue growth, providing a necessary cushion as the industry grapples with rising operating costs. The increase in expenses is primarily linked to a sharp jump in jet fuel prices following military escalations between Israel and Iran.
Delta Air Lines, Inc. observed an acceleration in both corporate and consumer demand throughout March. The airline recently raised its revenue guidance for the first quarter, noting that sales over the past week increased by 25% compared to the previous year. This growth is reflected across international routes, premium leisure travel, and domestic cabins. The carrier also reported that five of its top ten highest sales days in history occurred this month.
