Danone acquires British meal replacement brand Huel
Danone has agreed to buy British nutrition brand Huel. The deal expands the French group's reach into functional foods after Huel's 214 million pound revenue.
Danone S.A., the food conglomerate headquartered in France, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the United Kingdom-based nutrition specialist Huel. The transaction, for which the financial terms remain undisclosed, marks a significant expansion of Danone's presence in the rapidly evolving functional nutrition and complete meal replacement markets.

Huel is widely recognized for its portfolio of powders, ready-to-drink meals, and high-protein snacks designed to provide balanced nutrition. The acquisition is intended to merge Huel's strong digital capabilities and specialized product range with Danone's massive global reach and research and development resources. This synergy is expected to drive the Huel brand into new geographic territories and consumer segments.
James McMaster, the Chief Executive Officer of Huel, expressed optimism regarding the integration into Danone's global operations.
The deal will allow the Huel brand to expand into new markets and boost its growth using Danones infrastructure, distribution and research and development capability.
Financial data from Huel's website indicates that the company achieved revenue of 214 million pounds (approximately $284 million) in 2024. The move aligns with Danone's broader strategy to pivot toward health-focused categories that cater to shifting consumer preferences for convenient yet nutritionally dense food options.
