Daimler Truck Q1 Sales Decline on Weak North American Demand
Daimler Truck sold 68,849 units in the first quarter, a 9 percent drop from 2025. North American sales fell 25 percent as the firm navigates higher U.S. tariffs.
DAIMLER TRUCK HOLDING AG reported a 9% decline in its group unit sales for the first quarter of 2026, largely attributed to a significant slowdown in demand across the United States and broader North American markets. The global truck manufacturer sold a total of 68,849 vehicles during the first three months of the year, down from 75,758 units recorded in the same period of 2025. The performance of the company's North American business was particularly impacted, with sales dropping 25% to 29,432 units. This contraction follows a shift in the trade environment late last year. Financial leadership at the firm had previously signaled concerns regarding the changing economic landscape. In March, Chief Financial Officer Eva Scherer highlighted the growing pressure from trade policies. > "The impact from U.S. tariffs will be significantly higher in 2026." The warning came after the introduction of 25% duties on various imports starting in November 2025. The company continues to navigate these headwinds as it manages its global distribution and manufacturing footprint.
