CoreWeave Strikes AI Cloud Capacity Deal With Anthropic
CoreWeave shares rose over 5% Friday after announcing a deal to provide cloud capacity for Anthropic. The move helps the firm diversify its revenue streams.
COREWEAVE INC-CL A announced on Friday a multi-year agreement to supply cloud computing capacity to the AI startup Anthropic, a move that sent its shares up more than 5% during premarket trading. The partnership is designed to bring dedicated computing resources online later this year to support workloads for the Claude family of AI models. The deal with Anthropic follows a string of high-value contracts for the infrastructure firm, driven by the intense demand for computing power required to build and maintain advanced artificial intelligence models. The collaboration will initially focus on a phased infrastructure rollout, with the potential for further expansion in the future. CoreWeave has significantly expanded its footprint in the AI sector through massive deals, including an $11.9 billion agreement with OpenAI and a $6.3 billion initial order with NVIDIA CORP last September. Just this week, the company announced an expanded $21 billion deal with META PLATFORMS INC-CLASS A. These partnerships are helping the firm diversify its income. In the previous year, MICROSOFT CORP was responsible for roughly 67% of the company's revenue. By adding major clients like Meta and Anthropic, CoreWeave is strengthening its market position as a leading neocloud provider. The company specializes in offering hardware and cloud capacity as a service, utilizing its close relationship with Nvidia to provide the high-end chips sought by major tech firms. Despite investor concerns regarding rapid capital spending and potential backlog risks, CoreWeave's stock has climbed nearly 29% so far this year.
