CMS extends deadlines for Medicaid drug pricing model
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services extended deadlines for states and drugmakers to join a new payment model. The model aims to lower drug prices.
The United States Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) extended application deadlines for a pricing model to lower Medicaid drug costs. Drugmakers now have 42 additional days to apply for the program, which links Medicaid prices to international benchmarks. The delay allows small and mid-sized pharma firms to evaluate participation in a model targeting high prescription costs.
### Deadline Extensions for Manufacturers and States Drug manufacturers now have until June 11 to apply for the model, moving the previous deadline from late April. CMS also pushed the deadline for participation agreements to July 17, providing 17 extra days beyond the original June 30 cutoff. These shifts aim to help smaller firms review complex participation requirements.
