Chinese investment in Singapore surpassed the United States for the first time in 2025 as total commitments rose

Singapore investment commitments rose to 14.2 billion dollars in 2025 as China overtook the US for the first time. Job growth slowed as automation increased.

The Economic Development Board (EDB) has released its 2025 performance data, revealing a significant shift in the landscape of foreign investment in Singapore SGSG. Fixed asset investment commitments rose 5.2 percent to S$14.2 billion, while total business expenditure increased by 6 percent to S$8.9 billion. This growth comes alongside a material change in investor composition, as China CNCN substantially increased its share of commitments and expenditure, even as the number of new jobs created in the city-state fell by 16.0 percent to 15,700.
