China VC Funding Set for Record Q1 on State Tech Push
China venture capital funding is set for a record first quarter as state entities lead tech investments. State firms committed 86 billion yuan so far in 2026.
Fundraising in the venture capital industry of China is on track to reach a record high in the first quarter of 2026. This surge is driven by a concerted effort from Beijing to bolster the technology sector, specifically targeting advancements in artificial intelligence and robotics. Data from the Asset Management Association of China indicates that newly committed capital reached 86 billion yuan ($12.51 billion) during the first two months of the year alone.
This momentum suggests that the total for the first quarter will comfortably surpass the previous quarterly high of 68.9 billion yuan recorded in the third quarter of 2021. The shift is characterized by a significant influx of state-backed capital, with nearly all major investors among the 1,200 new yuan-denominated funds being government entities or state-owned enterprises.
