China services activity expanded to 52.6 in April, up from 52.1 in March, according to a private-sector survey. The reading outperformed the official government survey, which showed the sector slipping into contraction during the same period. Investors are monitoring whether domestic demand can offset cooling industrial output and rising input costs for Chinese firms.
