China to Buy 17 Billion Dollars in Extra US Farm Goods
Beijing has committed to purchasing at least 17 billion dollars in additional American agricultural products annually for three years to expand trade. The deal targets wheat, corn, and meat imports, potentially redirecting trade flows away from rival suppliers like Brazil and Australia.
China will purchase $17 billion in United States agricultural products annually over the next three years. The commitment follows a leadership summit in Beijing and includes a separate pledge to buy 25 million metric tons of soybeans annually. This represents a significant recovery from the $8 billion in U.S. farm imports recorded last year.
### Reshaping Global Agricultural Flows The $17 billion pledge brings total projected U.S. farm exports to China to between $28 billion and $30 billion annually. While this remains below the $38 billion peak seen in 2022, it marks a sharp increase from last year's figure. Traders and analysts noted that meeting these targets will require Beijing to ramp up purchases of wheat, feed grains, and meat.
