China May coal imports fall 8 percent to 33.27 million tons
China imported 33.27 million metric tons of coal in May, representing an 8 percent decline from the previous year despite a slight monthly increase from April. Traders are currently monitoring new Indonesian export regulations that require all commodity shipments to be channeled through a state firm.
China imported 33.27 million metric tons of coal in May, an 8% decline from the previous year. Total imports for the January-to-May period fell 3.2% to 182.62 million tons compared to the same period last year. The decline follows a new regulatory plan from Indonesia, the top supplier to China, to centralize commodity exports.
