China Consumer Inflation Hits 1.3 Percent as Deflation Eases
China's consumer inflation rose to 1.3% in February, beating forecasts. Producer price deflation eased to 0.9% as factory gate pressures showed signs of cooling.
Consumer inflation in China accelerated in February, while producer price deflation eased, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics released on Monday. The consumer price index (CPI) rose 1.3% year-on-year, picking up from the 0.2% increase in January and beating the 0.8% rise expected by economists.

On a monthly basis, the CPI increased by 1%, compared to a 0.2% rise in January and an expected gain of 0.5%. This suggests a pickup in consumer activity during the period. Meanwhile, the producer price index (PPI) fell by 0.9% year-on-year in February, following a 1.4% decline the previous month. The result was better than the 1.2% drop anticipated by analysts.
