Carrefour Chief Financial Officer Matthieu Malige has indicated that the ongoing conflict involving Iran is expected to have a less severe inflationary impact on the retail sector compared to the shock caused by the invasion of Ukraine by Russia four years ago. Speaking during a first-quarter earnings call, Malige noted that consumer behavior in France, the company's largest market, has remained resilient despite rising geopolitical tensions.
It's an inflationary environment which should not trigger a significant change in consumer behaviour.
