Canadian housing starts fell 15% in January to a seasonally adjusted annualized rate (SAAR) of 238,049 units, according to data released today by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC). The decline in Canada CACA was more substantial than the consensus forecast of 257,500 units, indicating a sharper-than-anticipated monthly slowdown in housing starts in the CMHC data.
