Chinese discount retailer Busy Ming announced plans on Tuesday to raise as much as $428 million (HK$3.3 billion) through an initial public offering in HK HKHK. The company is offering 14.1 million shares priced between HK$229.60 and HK$236.60 each, with an overallotment option of up to 15% more shares.
At the top end of the pricing range, the IPO would value Busy Ming at approximately HK$50.7 billion ($6.5 billion). The company has secured several high-profile cornerstone investors, including Tencent Holdings Limited , Temasek from SG SGSG, BlackRock Inc. , and FIL Investment. This institutional backing comes at a time when retail sales in CNgrew only 3.7% last year, a figure significantly below pre-pandemic levels.
