Forecasts for home price growth in the United Kingdom have been revised downward as expectations for imminent interest rate cuts diminish. According to a recent Reuters poll of 17 housing analysts, the average home price is now expected to rise by 2.5% this year, followed by 3% increases in the following two years. This marks a cooling from previous projections made in December, which anticipated more robust growth.

The shift in sentiment is largely attributed to geopolitical tensions and the outbreak of war in the Middle East involving Iran, which has fueled concerns over inflation and energy prices. Ray Boulger of mortgage broker John Charcol noted that the Bank of England faces a challenging environment where interest rates might even need to rise further to combat inflationary pressures.
