Brazil announces new measures to tackle household debt

Brazil President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva will launch the "Novo Desenrola Brasil" debt relief program on Monday to tackle rising household indebtedness. The initiative expands a 2023 program, offering interest rates capped at 1.99% and debt discounts ranging from 30% to 90%. It aims to restore consumer purchasing power by renegotiating credit card, personal, and student loan obligations.
