The Brazil Labor Ministry has officially added BYD CO LTD-H to its registry of employers found to have subjected workers to conditions analogous to slavery. The decision follows a December 2024 investigation at the company's electric vehicle manufacturing site in the northeastern state of Bahia, where authorities discovered approximately 163 workers from China working under what were described as slavery-like conditions.
