BP Chairman Albert Manifold trims board as Henry exits
BP Chairman Albert Manifold announced a leaner board today. Former Shell CFO Simon Henry will depart as incoming CEO Meg O'Neill starts her role in April.
Albert Manifold, the Chairman of BP p.l.c., has announced a plan to streamline the company's board of directors as part of a strategic reset for the energy major headquartered in the United Kingdom. The move towards a leaner board is the latest in a series of leadership changes under Manifold’s direction since he assumed the role in October. Among those set to depart the board is Simon Henry, the former chief financial officer of Shell plc.
This restructuring follows a period of significant executive transition. Following the abrupt departure of Murray Auchincloss in December, Meg O'Neill, currently of WOODSIDE ENERGY GROUP LTD, is scheduled to take over as CEO in April. O'Neill's appointment marks the first time in more than a century that the company has hired an external candidate for the top position.
