BCE Inc. has announced a $1.7 billion investment to construct a 300-megawatt artificial intelligence data center in Saskatchewan, marking a significant expansion of the digital infrastructure in Canada. The project, led by its subsidiary Bell Canada in collaboration with the provincial government, is poised to become the largest facility of its kind in the country.

Once complete, it will be the largest purpose-built AI data center development anywhere in Canada.

The development has already attracted major industry players as tenants. Cerebras is slated to supply specialized AI chips for large-scale training and computing, while CoreWeave, Inc. Class A Common Stock will provide high-performance computing capacity utilizing processors from NVIDIA Corporation.

Construction is scheduled to begin this spring, with the facility expected to come online in phases. The first stage of operations is targeted for the first half of 2027. BCE expects to allocate approximately $1.3 billion in capital expenditures toward the project in 2026, with funding sourced from a mix of debt and cash on hand.

The data center will be linked to Bell’s fibre network via a partnership with SaskTel. This collaboration will also see the two companies act as go-to-market partners to deliver AI-driven products and services to SaskTel customers. Reflecting the anticipated demand for these services, BCE has raised its 2028 revenue forecast for AI-powered solutions to $2 billion, up from a previous projection of $1.5 billion.
