The central bank of South Korea[Country:{ "assets":{ "country":"KR" } }] decided to hold its policy interest rates steady on Thursday, meeting market expectations as it evaluates the impact of a booming export sector and persistent global uncertainties. The Bank of Korea’s seven-member board voted unanimously to keep the benchmark rate at 2.50%, a move anticipated by a broad consensus of economists.
In tandem with the rate decision, the central bank upgraded its annual economic growth forecast to 2.0%, rising from a previous estimate of 1.8%. This optimistic outlook is largely driven by a significant surge in the semiconductor market, led by industry giants Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.[Symbol:{ "assets":{ "symbol":"005930.KS" } }] and SK hynix Inc.[Symbol:{ "assets":{ "symbol":"000660.KS" } }].
