Bangladesh seeks more fuel from India during Delhi visit
Bangladesh requested more fuel from India during a visit to New Delhi. Officials also discussed easing visa rules to improve strained diplomatic relations.
Bangladesh has officially sought to increase its fuel imports from India during the first ministerial visit to New Delhi by the nation's new government. Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman’s two-day trip marks a significant step in repairing diplomatic ties that had been strained following recent political upheaval.
Rahman held high-level discussions with Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri. The talks primarily focused on energy cooperation, a critical issue for Dhaka as it faces supply disruptions linked to the U.S.-Israeli conflict with Iran. Rahman expressed gratitude for recent diesel shipments and requested higher volumes of both fuel and fertilizer to meet domestic demand.
