Australian AUAUpension fund Aware Super has announced a $300 million investment to acquire a minority stake in the Skyline joint venture data centre business, Vantage Data Centres Asia Pacific. This transaction gives the fund exposure to 10 hyperscale facilities across Australia, Japan JPJP, Taiwan TWTW, Malaysia MYMY, and Hong Kong HKHK. Aware Super currently manages A$210 billion in funds, with an infrastructure portfolio worth approximately A$22 billion and A$6 billion specifically invested in digital infrastructure assets.
Mark Hector mark hector, the head of infrastructure at Aware Super, stated that the fund is not concerned about a valuation bubble in the near term. According to Mark Hector, the investment strategy focuses on purchasing existing data centres or facilities built with signed contracts. He highlighted that Aware Super is keen to step up its Asian infrastructure investments, complementing its current portfolio of Australian, North American, and European assets.
