The engineering development issues identified during the test phase might lead to delays of several months in a worst-case scenario. Sources familiar with the matter indicated that the early production stages have revealed more complications than originally anticipated.

It is true that more issues than expected have emerged during the early test production phase, and additional time will be needed to resolve them and make necessary adjustments.

Earlier reports suggested that the company intended to focus on a flagship launch in the second half of 2026. This launch was expected to include the first foldable iPhone alongside two standard models featuring upgraded camera systems and larger displays. Reuters was unable to independently verify the Nikkei report. Representatives for the tech giant did not immediately provide a response to requests for comment outside of regular business hours in the United States.
