Airbus targets 10 percent cost cuts amid supply snags
The European planemaker is curbing non-industrial spending and the use of external contractors to manage global economic uncertainty and delivery delays. While production remains unaffected, the move highlights ongoing pressure from supply chain disruptions and rising energy costs.
AIRBUS SE ordered a 10% cut in non-industrial spending to offset supply chain disruptions and economic uncertainty stemming from the Iran war and broader trade tensions. The measure targets headquarters and external contractors, building on the LEAD cost-saving project launched in 2024. The planemaker aims for a 10% increase in annual deliveries to around 870 aircraft.
The new containment measures focus on curbing external contractors at the planemaking division and headquarters. Three industry sources said the policy has been in effect for several weeks. Airbus declined to comment on the internal spending freeze.
