Air Liquide Invests 236 Million Dollars in Japan AI Chips
The French group will build two production units in Hiroshima to supply high-purity gases for AI chips. These facilities are scheduled to start up by late 2028.
AIR LIQUIDE SA has announced a significant investment of 200 million euros, or approximately $236 million, to expand its industrial infrastructure in Japan. The French industrial gases group plans to construct and operate two new production units in Hiroshima as part of a long-term agreement with a leading global semiconductor manufacturer. This initiative is aimed at supporting the rapid expansion of advanced chip production capacity. The upcoming facilities are scheduled to begin operations by the end of 2028. Once completed, they will supply large volumes of ultra-high-purity nitrogen, oxygen, and argon. These specialized gases are essential for the manufacturing of next-generation semiconductors specifically designed for artificial intelligence applications. Air Liquide has maintained a presence in the Japanese market for over 100 years. This latest investment is intended to solidify the company's standing within the domestic semiconductor industry while helping to satisfy the growing global demand for advanced computing hardware.
