India lowers FY27 gross borrowing to 16 trillion rupees

India lowered its second-half gross borrowing target to 7.86 trillion rupees ($82 billion) for October through March, trimming full-year borrowing to 16 trillion rupees. The reduction aims to stabilize rising bond yields and steady domestic markets after heavy recent selloffs. The revised borrowing program sits below the 16.09 trillion rupees projected for the first half and the 17.20 trillion rupees outlined in the federal budget.
